More than 40 corridors have been designated as “High Priority Corridors” by the U.S. Congress since the passage of the ISTEA ransportation bill. While some are intrastate, most are multi-state in nature, and many have a trade and even international trade orientation, most are oriented to economic development, and all were designated so that they might be eligible for various types of federal funding. In addition, some are essential to our nation's trade market.
Wilbur Smith Associates is experienced in the appraisal and analysis of High Priority Corridors, having worked on more than 12 of these designated corridors. Typically retained by the participating state DOTs and FHWA, our recommendations are based on:
- Problems and Deficiencies
- Improvement Strategies
- Solution Options
- Economic Development Rationale
- Traffic and Traffic Opportunities
- Domestic and International Trade Potential
|
- Cost Implications
- Public Participation
- Environmental Issues
- Economic Benefit/Cost
- Economic Feasibility
