Pennsylvania Statewide Airport System Plan
2004 National Finalist, American Council of Engineering Companies
With airports of all sizes serving the needs of the Commonwealth’s residents and businesses, the financial resources required to support such an extensive airport system are great. Given the constant struggle to maintain adequate funding for airport maintenance and development, identification of the most important assets from a statewide perspective is needed.
The primary goal of the Pennsylvania Statewide Airport System Plan was to determine what is needed for the airport system to continue to serve its customers, both now and in the future. This was successfully accomplished through the following five study components:
- System Plan
- Air Cargo Study
- Properties Directory
|
- Economic Impact Study
- Assessment of Air Service
|
Each of the five SASP components evaluated the airport system’s existing assets to determine strategic, long-term development approaches that will allow the Bureau of Aviation to administer the airport system in a manner that meets the growing and changing needs of the Commonwealth’s citizens and businesses.
