The Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) Division of Aeronautics initiated a comprehensive State Airport System Plan (SASP) on February 15, 2008.  The following is the third update of the project including a brief summary of the tasks completed during the month of June including:

• Finalized system goals and performance measures
• Survey and inventory of system airports
• Approval of economic impact surveys
• Completion of draft chapter 1 of the SASP

During the month of May system goals and performance measures were finalized after reviewing input from the Project Advisory Committee (PAC) and internal review from ITD. Additionally, on-site visits were scheduled at 43 Idaho airports. On-site visits began on June 11 and will conclude in late July. The surveys are used to gather data on existing airport facilities, activity, based aircraft, aviation services, and land use information. The surveys and on-site visits provide the majority of data for use in analysis of the Idaho system of airports.

In addition to the development of airport inventory forms, tenant, business, and pilot surveys were finalized. These surveys will be mailed out in August as part of the Economic Impact inventory effort.  Tenant and business surveys were developed to identify usage of Idaho’s airports for business related purposes as well as to capture vital economic indicator data. Pilot surveys were developed to identify the level usage of system airports by pilots as well as their impact on the communities they visit.

A draft of Chapter 1 – System Goals and Measures was delivered to ITD for comment and review. Following the review by ITD, the chapters will be presented to the PAC for comment and review in August.
