The first phase of Chandler Municipal Airport (CHD) Federal Aviation Regulation Part 150 Noise and Land Use Compatibility Study (Part 150 Study), summarized in the CHD Airport Noise Exposure Report (also called Noise Exposure Map or NEM), is complete and has been accepted by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). This effort determined the extent of the noise that exists around the Airport today, and is expected to exist around the Airport in the future.

The second phase of the Part 150 Study, the Noise Compatibility Program (NCP) is in complete draft format and undergoing final City review processes. The NCP provides noise abatement strategies (operational measures), mitigation in terms of land use measures, and policy or administrative measures to address the concerns of the local communities.

It is anticipated that the full FAR Part 150 Noise and Land Use Compatibility Study will be submitted to FAA in late summer 2010. Once the FAA accepts the document for its review, the agency has 180 days to complete the review. It is anticipated that the FAA will issue its final approval in early 2011.
